Afro-dancehall superstar Livingstone Etse Satekla, known professionally as Stonebwoy, has filed a lawsuit against aspiring politician and entertainment critic Sadiq Abdulai Abu, popularly known as Baba Sadiq, over defamatory comments made on his X page (formerly Twitter).
In a writ filed in the High Court of Justice on May 31, 2024, Stonebwoy, the reigning Ghanaian Artist of the Year, requests the court to compel Baba Sadiq to delete the offending tweets and issue an unqualified apology. Additionally, Stonebwoy seeks GHS 3 million in damages for the harm caused to his reputation, arguing that Baba Sadiq acted maliciously and with intent to defame by publishing knowingly false statements.
The lawsuit follows widespread concern on social media regarding Baba Sadiq’s comments, which accused Stonebwoy of being a violent female abuser. These accusations went viral, sparking intense discussions among fans and the public. Stonebwoy, known for his advocacy for women’s rights and numerous philanthropic efforts supporting women, found the allegations particularly damaging.
