Former President John Dramani Mahama is set to maintain Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate for the 2024 Presidential elections. This decision underscores Mahama’s confidence in Opoku-Agyemang’s abilities, as she previously served as his running mate during the 2020 elections.

Despite speculation about alternative candidates, including Julius Debrah, Dr Nii Moi Thompson, MP Eric Opoku, and retired Police Commissioner Nathan Kofi Boakye. Mahama is likely to continue his partnership with Opoku-Agyemang.

Mahama officially submitted his nomination for running mate to the party’s Council of Elders on February 27, 2024. The Council is scheduled to convene on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11 am to deliberate on the nomination. Following this, the National Executive Committee will meet at 3 pm on the same day for further discussions.

Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the NDC, expressed confidence in the chosen running mate, highlighting Opoku-Agyemang’s experience, expertise, and dedication.

Kwetey emphasized her alignment with Mahama’s vision to “Build Ghana We Want together” and extended gratitude to the party’s supporters for their unwavering loyalty and commitment.
