A tragic clash between the local youth and navy personnel at Tema Manhean in the Greater Accra Region has resulted in the loss of two lives. The incident occurred on the evening of Friday, April 12, 2024.
This unfolded during this year’s Kplejoo festival, with the youth organizing a street procession. Tensions escalated when a disagreement arose between the procession and naval ratings stationed in front of the Eastern Naval Command.
Amidst the confrontation, reports indicate that a vehicle belonging to the Navy was damaged by individuals in the crowd. The situation quickly escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in the loss of two lives from gunshot wounds.
The deceased have been transferred to the Tema General Hospital Mortuary, while two others who sustained injuries are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.
